iCar

14Jan09

Apple has made several hardware over the last few years, the iPhone and Apple TV being made most recently. But what’s next for Apple? Well, it looks like Apple is going to get much larger as it is planning to launch the iCar.

Currently, the iCar is only a idea but already there are concepts being designed for the iCar. Apple has already teamed up with Volkswagen in order to produce a car which is up to date with the latest technology. Apple has clearly said they would not be doing the mechanics of the car, they will only be fitting in the technology inside.

MacLife, a magazine that looks into Apple technology designed a concept of an Audi car (part of Volkswagen) that has been fitted inside with the latest gadgets. Here is what they came up with.

On the third picture, you can see a form of control panel which contain similar “icons” to the iPhone, meaning it could contain applications such as Maps and could contain other applications, such as AutoDrive?

Imagine having technology in your credit card and be able to check your bank details and have your credit card always secure with fingerprint recognition. This cool idea designed by Jacob Palmborg looks at how your credit card can be futuristic.

Touch screen panel in the centre helps protect your card. The colour wheel also shows a form of ring percentage chart to determine the amount of money out of your balance is spent on clothes (shown in pink on the circle).

Well, I am not too sure whether this background may be included in Windows 7, but Windows 7 has definitely had a slight update in its graphical desktop. From underneath, we can see that the taskbar has now been upgraded into the “superbar”. We can also see that the search box has had a bit of an update  and there is no favourites menu in the icons that appear in the “quick start” menu. The shut down button has been replaced by a button that gives a variety of options in a drop down menu.

Underneath is a clearer appearance of the “superbar”. The Windows Icon has not changed that much except if you hover, its flag colours shine in the icon. You can also see that instead of written descriptions of opened programs, they are in the form of icons making it a more graphical user interface. Other than that, it is quite similar to Vista.

Before you click, it will show you a preview of all the window’s – similar to Vista.

A new option called the “Jump List” allows you to Jump to a certain folder inside a certain program on the SuperBar. Here we can see the Jump List in Windows Media Player.

Peek, a new option which allows any window on the desktop to turn into “glass”. Additionally, there is no sidebar in  Windows 7 – for Gadgets will just sit on the desktop, which can be done in Windows Vista.

Your desktop can also change background in a certain time. If you wanted a new background every 30 seconds, you would select the option to change it every 30 seconds. DreamScene will continue but whether it will be included in all of Windows 7 Editions has not been decided.

Imagine a phone which is made of recycled aluminium, a LED screen with high screen display and a crank to generate power in a portable eco-friendly way. Well, the SLIQ phone offers all of this. The SLIQ phone is a light, portable phone which is made of green sustainable materials. As well, its services provided in the concept glimpses of the phone show that not only is it a green phone, but has a wide range of applications provided in the phone’s sleek, professional appearance.

MacBook Air

12Jan09

The MacBook Air is an Apple Laptop which is the world’s thinnest notebook.  Between 0.16 and 0.76 inches, it is far lighter than most notebooks, weighing around 3.0 pounds!

Thin 3

The MacBook Air has a strong and durable aluminium casing, and has a 13.3 inch, widescreen LED-backlit screen which is the same as a normal MacBook and with 1280 by 800 it provides you with that beautiful rich colour that all Apple’s hardware has. And with the LED, it makes it more green as it is power efficient which helps to have a longer battery life for your MacBook Air.

The Macbook Air’s keyboard is extremely thin and all the keys are backlit, so it is useful if you are working in an area where there is little light (such as aeroplanes, conference halls etc). It also has a special “Multi-Touch” trackpad, which allows you to do a variety of things such as pinch, swipe, rotate or zoom using your fingers on the pad, and this can be used on text, photo albums, adjusting images and navigation.

Even a headphone jack, a USB 2.0 slot, a mini DisplayPort and a iSight camera have all been fitted inside this very slim notebook.
